Ayurvedic Hair Care

I have decide to change up the products I currently use in Hair Regimen, notice I said changing the products, not the Regimen. I like trying and creating new products in my hair, as I stated in I do not make big changes to my hair all at once, it sends your hair into shock, and possibly making it regress to an unhealthy state. I have no great preference to using all natural ingredient products or commercial products. Obviously using chemical free products is the better option, its just not my preference at this time. In fact the new product I am suing or creating fall into both categories. I’m going to be incorporating ayurvedic herbs into my regimen. I’m sure you’re asking yourself what are Ayurvedic Herbs? Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of the Indian subcontinent, has its own distinctive approach to healing and life in general. The Sanskrit term "ayurveda" means "science of life." Developed over more than five millennia, ayurvedic medicine incorporates diet, herbs, aromatic oils and massage into a system of health maintenance that covers virtually every aspect of daily life. Ayurveda offers herb-based and common-sense remedies for a variety of hair-care issues. I will include a link at the conclusion of this post for more information on Ayurveda. Now that you know what core meaning of Ayurveda, lets move along with how it will be used for hair growth.

It always shocks me when I tell someone that I cleanse, condition, and moisturize my hair with plant products, it like people don’t believe that something will work unless it’s been chemically engineered, people were using plants for medicinal and cleansing purposes long before Pantene Pro V was created. I am no natural hair guru, but what I am is someone who has naturally curly hair, and that makes me more than qualified. Adapting a full ayurvedic regimen is WAY too time consuming, so I decided to incorporate ayurveda as it is needed in all steps of my regimen. Don't overwhelm yourself by trying to many thing at once, its a perfect recipe for failure. Let’s start at the beginning; it’s usually a great place to start. Here are the products that I currently use in my hair, to check out my full Regimen click here. I’m going to show you how I add Ayurveda into each step of my in my regimen.

I am just starting out with ayurvedic herbs, I'm starting out slowly, and incorporating a few herbs at a time. This will allow me to see how my hair responds, it wont shock my hair, and I can get use to using and making the products. For the last month I have been using Bentonite Clay as my preferred cleansing method (click here for more info on Bentonite Clay). If I have any left after applying it to my hair, I apply it to my face (its great for you skin) See:

Rahhhh.....lol
This stuff has completely changed my life ( ok thats slightly dramatic) Lets just say it changed my skin for the best! lol. Moving on, last week I did my first Henna Treatment, I will posting that on a later date. Im also going to post an ayurvedic Regimen from the blog of Moptop Maven, I found it very helpful, Im actually using her regimen as a guideline, and tweaking it to fit my hair. The great thing is that Ayurvedic herbs are not expensive, in fact depending on where you live you may be able to find them at your local Indian market. If not you can purchase them online. The site I trust and use is www.HennaSooq.com make sure to get quality, organic herbs. I would Love to hear what you all think, if you have followed an ayurvedic herb regimen, were you succesful?
