Hey
Dolls and Gents (I’m not judging)
I recently made a
small make up refill, on some basic and affordable products, that I’m going to
review. I am a DIE HARD M.A.C-aholic! I honestly cannot think of one thing that
I do not like about M.A.C…..hmmmm, oh well this is not about my love affair
with M.A.C (I think I have situational A.D.D). Maybelline is my favorite drug
store or commercial make up line. I’m sure that at some point or another, we
have all used a product by Maybelline. The most popular being the Mega Lash
Mascara in the oh so famous pink and green tube, to this day, that is one of my
favorite mascaras, it’s cheap, cheap and it’s pretty darn fantastic. I get
great lash separation, definition, and a sleek look (I don’t like my eyelashes
to be super curly). So without further ado here are the products that I will be
reviewing are:

My
Review:
I
purchased the products on Tuesday, I have used the product for the last three
days, and my initial review is…….that I really love this product!!! I was VERY
skeptical about trying this product for a number of reasons. The main reasons
are that I do NOT use any foundation except for M.A.C, I have tried a number of
foundations, high end and low end and nothing works. I stick to what works when
it comes to my face. I saw a review on YT by (click here see to the video), and
I decided to just give it a try because I liked the review that she gave. I
figured it’s not really a foundation but more of a tinted moisturizer.
The
consistency of the product is similar to a light sour cream; it’s not heavy or
dense. I used a stippling brush to apply it, not my fingers as recommended. It
went on evenly and smoothly. The color was actually spot on, which I didn’t
expect. I didn’t have high expectations for this product. It did brighten, and
even out any skin imperfections, it has SPF (huge plus), my face felt hydrated,
and it wasn’t heavy. I would almost go as far to say that it may become a
staple product in my makeup regimen. I use this almost as a primer, if you read
the description then that’s pretty much what a primer does.
How
I use this: I use this as my facial moisturizer; I apply it evenly to my face,
and then sweep on my M.A.C Mineralizer Powder.
Next
up, Volume Express Colossal Express (Black):
I am beyond obsessed with mascara! I think if I
had to choose one item that I could not live without, when it comes to make-up
would hands down be: Mascara!!! Now with that said, I do not buy expensive
mascara. I have tried them all, DiorShow, Benefits, Chanel, MAC, and the list
goes on. I can get the same result using any drugstore brand. In my opinion, it
isn’t the brand formula, it’s all about the brush and technique. One of my go to mascara is Maybelline Colossal
Lash in Blackest black, (I don’t get the purpose of brown mascara) I use the non-waterproof
version. The brush is medium in length, which allows for more control over the
application. The bristles are long and fluffy. The consistent is even and thick
(this is good)!
How
I use it:
The
first thing that I do is make sure my eyelashes are all brushed out, using an
eyelash spooley (you can purchase these at any makeup store, or recycle an old
mascara wand, just make sure you remove any residue of previous mascara.) Next
I coat the top of my lashes, before I apply it to the bottom. Most people only
coat the bottom, meaning you will stroke upward, however for more definition
coat the top and bottom. When you coat the top portion it helps to elongate the
lashes, by stretching them out. The next step, I allow the mascara to dry
slightly, but not completely. I then use mascara that has very short bristles, I
usually use a loreal or avon mascara. Remember, it’s not about the brand it’s
about the brush and technique. I use mascara, with a wand that has medium stiff
bristles; to create a more defined and separated look. This will help open up
the eye.
Product
No. 3 Eye Studio Master Drama Liner (Blackest Black)
Here’s
the thing, it’s eyeliner! Lol! I’m sure
you’re thinking, “Duh…I knew that.” I personally have never spent more than 7
bucks on eyeliner, heck I think that’s a lot! If you are someone who loves eye
liner, but doesn’t want to spend, 20 bucks on MAC dipdown, or fluid liner, then
this is a great option. When is the last time you ever heard someone say “Your
black eyeliner is to die for….” Yeah, Never. If anything people compliment the technique,
cat eye, winged eye, etc. So, unless it’s a colored liner, save you money for
foundation, powders, and primers. I would purchase this again, because I have a
cheaper brand that works just as well. I do like this product.
How
I use it: Simple! I use it to line my top and lower lash line.
Finally,
Eye Studio master Shape Brow Pencil (Soft Brown)
Ok,
the verdict is still out there on this one. First, the name of the product is
very misleading; the wording makes it sound like more than a brow liner. I thought
that it would have a more waxy consistency, to aide in the shaping of the brow,
however it didn’t. I am a huge fan of Maybelline products, I feel like they
make quality products, they have a variety of choices for all skin types and
tones, and that they give you a lot of product that’s good on you wallet. This
product was very disappointing when it came to how much product you receive. I
used this product up within 3 weeks!!! That’s crazy, and I don’t have sparse
eyebrows. If you need more coverage to fill out your eyebrows, this is not a
good option, in my opinion. The other reason I wouldn’t purchase this product
is because I have made a change in how I define my brows. I use brown eye
shadow, because it gives a more natural appearance.
How
I USED it: Using even strokes I applied it to darken and define the brow area.
I
hope that this is helpful to you ladies and gentlemen (yess!) If there are any
product review you would like to hear about please let me know, I have tried
and review sooooo many almost tooooo many, and I would love to share them with
you.
