DIY on a Budget:
Avocado Pina Colada Hair Mask

This recipe may sound more like a cocktail to be consumed on a desolate island, with a gorgeous man, such as Idris Elba..........Sorry! ( ahhh wishful thinking) This recipe is safe to eat but it may not be that appetizing, but its actually a "cocktail" for your hair.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Medium Ripe Avocado ( Healthy source of oil and Omega 3)
  • 1 Small Banana ( Adds shine, moisturizing, and protein rich)
  • 1 TBSP of Pure Honey ( adds shine, natural preservative and humectant)
  • 1 Cup of Canned of Coconut Milk ( Adds moisture, protein, and nourishment)
  • 1TBSP of Olive Oil, OR Coconut Oil, Almond oil, Grapeseed Oil ( sun protection, sealant, and
  • antioxidants)
Directions:
This is slightly complicated, take all the ingredients and dump them into a blender or food processor and blend until creamy. Lol. If you dont have a blender then you can mix this with a hand mixer or mix it by hand. If you mix by hand try to get this to the creamist consistency possible.

Application: ( If you have fine hair you only need a small amount, if you have thick/coarse hair you will need a generously amount)
If you think the directions were hard wait till you read the application process. This method will depend on the length of your hair. If you have short hair just "smush" this all over, and if you have longer hair then you need to divide you hair into 2-4 section to  make sure that your hair is evenly coated with the mask. Allow the mixture to sit for (thin/fine hair) 10-15 mins and (thick/coarse hair)30-45 mins. This mask is for ALL hair types!

 Final Step:
Rinse Out! I take always to a dollop of my store bought conditioner to make sure I rinse out any product in case I didnt blend the hair mask very well. On the final rinse I rinse with cold water to seal my hair cuticle and to give my curls a boost of shine.

I usually have some left over, and i freeze it immediately if I dont plan on using it within the next week, I allow it thaw in fridge a day before I plan to use it again. If I plan on using it on my next wash day, which is every 6 days i place it in the fridge. Dont be shocked to see tha the color of the mixture has browned, this happens with natural ingredients, its cosmetic the honey acts as a natural preservative.
