Natural Hair Amla Deep Treatment Mask
I try to co wash every three to four days (ish), but it doesn’t always work out. Last night was my co wash night, when I co wash I usually use either my Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle, or Moisture Balance Conditioner. I realized I hadn’t  done a protein deep treatment in about three weeks (approx.), and I usually use Avlon 5-in-1 reconstructor, I live for that stuff, but only use it on freshly cleansed hair, I feel that I get better results. So, last night I mixed my (TJ) Moisture Balance Conditioner with (approx) 1 TBSP of Grape Seed Oil, 1 TBSP of Olive Oil, and about 1/4 cup of Amla powder.

Amla, Grape Seed Oil, Olive Oil, & TJMBC

Amla Power is made from the powdered dried fruit of the Indian Gooseberry tree. It is often used in tanning and dying wool and silk and in Indian medicine. Amla can be used on your hair to slow hair loss, increase thickness and slow graying. It also leaves hair soft, silky and shiny. As a facial, it can tighten and tone the skin and balance redness. Amla is a wonderful exfoliator as it has natural astringent properties which help to remove dead skin cells without the chemicals of commercial products.

I pour warn to hot temperature water to the Amla powder, it helps to break up the powder, you don’t want chunks in your conditioner mix. You don’t need too much water, just enough to get it to the consistency of yogurt, and then mix it into conditioner mix, and then I set it aside while I shower and co wash with my TJ Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner.

I always wash my hair in sections because it makes cleansing, conditioning, styling easier. When I had a TWA I didn't separate my hair into sections, but the longer my hair gets the more necessary to work in sections, to cut down on fairy knots. Once I get out the shower, I apply the mixture to my hair (be generous with the product), and then I place a plastic shower cap and bonnet over my head. You can sit under a hooded dry, steam your hair with a steamer (if you have on), sleep with the mixture in overnight, or for an hour. Then rinse the mixture out, and continue with your normal regimen. For me I apply Kinky Curly Knot Today (my leave-in) and then sealed with my Cocoveda oil (from Henna Sooq) Love that stuff.
